On a hut in the Sunderbans
Engaging with Eco-humanistic themes
A lonely hut in the forested Sundarbans
Along the delta of the Hooghly - Runs
Aside a mangrove tree vast
An evergreen Santhali girl lost
Besides the otter by the brackish river
Bestowed with a couple of arrows in the quiver
Buoyed by her ancestor spirit motherly
Betraying a sense of balance clearly
Catching a scaled salmon a tad late
Curtailing the bark lit fire - She ate
Condiments of herbs and fish roasted
Conscious like a Bengali tiger contested
Dance of the storks she watches
Duly - her spirit too indulges
Decocted brews she smells afar
Duly, her self goes to the hut ajar
Earthly debts we all owe
Earthly seeds do we sow
Earthly dance does she so
Earthly bounds crossed on the go
For she owns we and ours
Forever more, beyond our powers
